Thanks To My Teacher was created Michael Sheehan, who brings to the project creative and management skills developed over 35 years as a television producer, director and writer.

Michael Sheehan's work as a video producer, director, and writer has been seen on regional and national broadcast/cable television, on the Internet, over corporate distribution networks, and in the home video market.

Michael Sheehan was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy, School Year Abroad (Spain), Defense Language Institute, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, from which he earned a Masters Degree in Communication Studies.

Sheehan cites as a principal inspiration for the project his communications studies mentor at The University of North Carolina, John Paul Nickell: "When I came home from a year serving as a U.S Marine in Vietnam, I returned to college with no real idea of where it would lead. When I stumbled into a course on live television production under Paul Nickell (a highly respected network director from the 'Golden Age of Television'), it changed my life. Under Paul's mentorship, I discovered a useful and creative way to channel the discipline, mission focus, and reliance on teamwork that had been an integral part of being a Marine Sergeant in a combat zone.  Long after I left school to start what would become a 35-year career in television production, I belatedly came to understand what an important contribution my teacher Paul Nickell had made to my life. Unfortunately, my realization came too late for me to be able to shake Paul's hand, to look him in the eye, and to thank him personally, and I regret that greatly."
